Esteemed Star Pat Finn, Recognized For Roles in Seinfeld and The Middle, Has Died at Age 60.
American actor Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic TV shows like Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed at 60 years old.
The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California on Monday having undergone treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, according to news outlets.
"Pat Finn saw everyone as a friend - only friends he hadn't encountered," his family shared in a message.
They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable TV Career
Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.
He was also seen in a regular part on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.
He appeared as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on several well-known programs, including:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- "That '70s Show"
- House
His most famous role for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight series over nearly a decade.
His film credits include It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".
Beyond the Screen
Beyond his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was a member of a comedy group of six called Beer Shark Mice.
"Pat guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils over the years and it's nearly impossible to find anyone who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, peer actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," he posted on social media.
The actor is survived by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
